NOTES OF THE TURF. Old-time turfmen around Chicago will recall Michael Hogarty, betting corimissloner, who has just died on the south side. At one time Hogarty acted as betting commissioner for Joe Ullmau and Barney Woller. when these two bookmakers operated the largest books in the west and east. Heart disease was the cause of death. The funeral of jockey Tommy Burns took place from his former residence In Sheepshead Bay Sunday. Services were held at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Father Daniel McCarthy officiating. Scores of noted turfmen, including jockeys who had ridden with the deceased, attended the funeral. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.
