PAN ZARETA EQUALS AMERICAN RECORD. Newman Filly Runs Five and. af Half .TurlongS in 1:01 in Winning Handicap at Juarez. El Paso. Tex., December 1. J. F. and H. S. Newmans consistent Abe Frank tilly. Pan Zareta, figured in a sensational performance at Juarez today. In winning the live and a half furlongs handicap that served as the feature of the card, she equaled the American record of 1 :04 for the distance made by J. N. Camdens crack two-year-old, Brlnghurst, at Churchill Downs last fall. Pan Zaretas performance was by far the more notable because she carried the heavy impost of 124 IMiunds and won, with jockey Kirschbaum, her pilot, easing her up. It naturally follows that, had she lK?en extended in the last part of the race, she would have reduced the American record to a considerable degree. The Juarez track is in perfect condition at present and Pan Zaretas feat of today probably is simply the forerunner of some record-breaking performances in the near future. Harding Hi, Field, of Mexico, Mo., has arrived for the meeting. He and his brother own a string of horses in training at Juarez in charge of J. A. Scckington. They also own the breeding stud of the late C. L. Harrison, being nephews of that noted turfman, who in his lifetime raced Waldo, Housemaid and other cracks. News lias been received from Henry McDaniel, who has a string of a dozen horses in training here, that his wife is much improved. He did not say. however, when they would be able to leave New-York to return here. The stable of W. J. Dunn has arrived from Montana. His string includes Thistle Belle. Tight Boy and Parlor Boy. They are being trained by J. Nat-tress. The stable of C. Martin has also arrived from California. His horses include Giity Palleu."TeIlur-iuin ami Barium.
