PICKWICK raced into the lead and, under punishment in the final quarter, made a game effort, but tired iu the closing strides. SEA WAVE finished resolutely and was gaining at the finish. Won ridden out; second and third driving. HESPERUS began slowly, but saved ground on nil turns, gained steadily and responded gamely when called on in the final eighth and won drawing clear. KING MART began well and. after being saved in the early running, raced into the lead in the homestretch, but tired when challenged. BRIDGET OCONNOR displayed much speed and set the early pace, but swerved out on the last turn, then finished gamely and ran a good raoe. THE BROOK was shuillcd back at the start and closed a big gap. Won easily; second and third driving. OSTLLIVAN began slowly, but went around the leaders rapidly while rounding the far turn and, easily passing WENONAII, won easing up. WENONAH showed much speed and led under restraint in the early running, but tired after going five-eighths. AHARA raced well and finished gamely under punishment. The others were never prominent. STAR HAWK followed the leader under slight restraint in the early running, then passed RHINE MAIDEN easily, but had to be shaken up in the final sixteenth to withstand FLIT-TERGOLDS challenge. The latter saved much ground on all the turns and finished gamely under punishment. RHINE MAIDEN left the barrier fast and raced into a long lead, but readily succumbed when challenged. WElt CARTER lost his rider at the seventh and JOHNNIE McKAY his rider at the ninth. WElt CARTER and SANDOW ran live-eighths to a false start. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. The hitter ran sluggishly and was under hard pressure all the wav. but finished resolutely. ONWA closed up steadily in the homestretch. PONCE DE LEON and DECK MATE ran fairly well.
