CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Steve Donoghue. the leading English jockey list year, has arrived in England from South Africa, where he has been riding for Sol Joel. The Newmarket First Spring Meeting ami the Tuam, Louth and Limerick meetings in Ireland are in this weeks fixtures and will be carried out as announced. Thomas Hitchcock has nominated for the fJreen Spring Valley Steeplechase Kin tore, Bryudor and Welsh King, besides the jumpers Tomohawk III., Mountain Rose IL. Wolferton II., and Triste Adieu, the get of Yankee. In the juvenile .Mr. Hitchcock will be represented by Wyoming and an unnamed filly by Sea King — Miss Hanover, the dam of Welsh King. At a meeting of the directors of the Western Racing Association in Montreal, it was decided that if there were a sufficient number of horses at the meeting at Devonshire Park next month, they would put on a race for Canadian-foaled horses each afternoon with a purse of the value of BIBB This is one with a view to encourage the breeding of horses in Canada and to give them a fair test in racing.
