DRASTIC ACTION IN IMPERATOR CASE Will Follow Identification of Culprits Responsible for Sponge Trick. New York, August 10. Swift and drastic action bv the olTIciiils in charge of racing at Saratoga will follow the discovery of those responsible the tricky work with Imperator. . Acting strangely after a race -which he had Imperator was found to have a sponge stuffed Ills nostrils. Of course, it was figured that a trick would kill any chances the horse had. The Saratoga meeting has brought together largest gathering of horses at any one track year. It has consequently drawn probably largest following of racing men, as well as other class of sure thing operators. Naturally, meeting may be expected to tempt more stuff. The more horses there are in competition more trouble there is in. keeping a close tab them and in watching their performances from to day. For this reason it is up to the stewards of Jockey Club to double their watch over crooked work. Racing is just now enjoying more popularity and wider patronage in this state than it has several Tears. But if the parasites who lurk around the tracks are allowed to get in their crooked another heavy setback is sure to come sooner later. Reports from Saratoga indicate that culprits responsible for the trick on Imperator soon be identified.
