Won driving; second and third the same. DIVERSION, away in the lead, set a fast pace for the going and, holding on gamely when challenged, outstayed BEAVERKILL in the final drive. BEAVERKILL .went up into the air at the start, but had a clear course and, closing up ground steadily, made a game effort in the last eighth, but was in close quarters in the closing strides. HARVEST KING, close up in the early running, saved ground on the stretch turn and finished gamely. PHOCION raced next to the rail, but came wide when entering the homestretch and tired. OCEAN PRINCE and DOUGLASS S. raced extremely wide throughout. KIN-NET ran well to the stretch and was pulled up when he tired. SYOSKET was saved behind the leaders until in the last half, then moved up rapidly and, passing I5ALLYBAY after a mild drive, was going away at the finish. BALLYI5AY took the lead in the last turn of the field and held on gamely under punishment, but tired in the final drive. NEW HAVEN saved ground when possible and had no mishaps. GUEY LEG displayed speed and fenced faultlessly. STUCCO pulled up lame. The winner, entered for ,000, was bid up to ,500 and bought in. Scratched 33000 M. J. Shannon, 143; 33335 My King, 13S. CHICLET set a good pace to the stretch and tired under punishment in the final drive. WOODTRAP was taken back in the early running and swerved in behind the others when put to a drive, but came on the outside in the last sixteenth and finished fastest of the leaders. Won driving; second and third the same. PAPP slipped through next to the rail while rounding the last turn, drew clear in the homestretch and held on gamely when challenged. KASHMIR, away slowly, gradually improved his position and, after being forced extremely wide when entering the homestretch, finished witli a rush under punishment and wearing the leader down in the closing strides. ESCOBA, under pressure throughout, seemed handicapped by the going, but ran a game race and finished close up. LANIUS had a clear course next to the inner rail and made a game effort in the homestretch, but was tiring at the end. NUTCRACKER showed the most speed in the early running, but quit in the last eighth. DEBADOU closed a big gap and was in close quarters in the stretch. FREECUTTER was never prominent. MOSCOWA, after being under restraint in the early running, moved up rapidly on the inside while rounding the last turn and, racing into a long lead, won in a canter. DICK WILLIAMS easily passed FAUX-COL on the backstretch and took the lead, but could not withstand the winners challenge. MANAGER WAITE was hard ridden throughout, but dropped back on the last turn, then came again when put under punishment. STAR MAID ran a fairly good race. ELLISON ran poorly. The latter was slightly interfered witli on the turn, but closed up steadily when clear and finished with a belated rush. WYOMING was forced to race wide all the way, but finished fast and was gaining in the closing strides. FREDERICK THE GREAT showed the most speed for a half and tired as if short. TROMPE LA MORT closed a big gap and tired in the last eighth.
