CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF G. Walls is riding In good form at Jefferson Park. Jockey King Lapaille lias left New Orleans for his home in Louisville, where he will remain until after the. holidays. A report was circulated iu New York yesterday that Joseph Marrone. the well-known turfman, was dead. Investigation revealed that the deceased was a cousin of Mr. Man-one, by the same name. Sam Louis or Kausas City, who bas achieved some fame because of his activities in bidding up horses in selling races. Is one of tho recent ar- rivals at Jefferson Parish track. Hu will remain thrsughout the wiuier. M. J. Murphy, trainer for J. S. Ownbey, has joined the United States Army and is stationed -at Camp Upton. Vaphar.k, L. I. His brother, Uanny Murphy. who is In New Orleans, has received word from him to this effect. Murphy trained Tio Pin. Carlton !., and several otlier horses, J. P. Mayberry, former trainer of tho - Johnson-Billings stable, has arrived in New Orleans from Baltimore. Mayberry was in New Orleans year ago when he trained tho horses of Charles Ellison. Mayberry shipped a horse here this winter, King-ling IL, which is in training under tho care --of James Arthur, who has a number of thoroughbreds at tho Fair Ground.. .
