OLD-TIME LOCAL TURFMAN PASSES ON William Fries, who died at his homa in this city last Monday, was a well-known personage on the Lakeside and Harlem race tracks twenty years back. Hosi, by Pirate of Penzance, J. J. T., by Justice- Lyon and Man Of Honor, by Siddartha, were horses with which he won his fair share of the purses in the late nineties, being in partnership with James Dunn in the latter horse. He was 51 years old and is survived by a wife and two children. Ills funeral was largely attended by old-time friouds, who held liinx in high esteem.
