BELMONT PARK TRACK IS REBUILT XEW YORK, X. Y., March 4. Racing followers will see many changes at Belmont Park when the spring meeting there opens on Mav 22. Superintendent H. I. Pels lias completely rebuilt the track during the winter months. Because of the open winter work lias proceeded apace and now it is almost finished. , The improvements consist of a new drainage system and a new- top dressing. Pels has followed the plans for the track at Saratoga, which was rebuilt last year and mnde the fastest in the country. He has used the same implements to do the work, and is confident that he will meet with similar success. The soil for the top dressing for the track at Saratoga wis taken from the infield. It contains a great deal of sand and drains quickly. In order to obtain like results Pels has mixed considerable sand with the soil lie has used for the top dressing at Belmont Park. The main secret, however, for the fast track at Saratoga was the way the soil was rolled and dressed.
