A K MACOMBERS FIRST FRENCH WIN At Maisons Laffitte France May 20 the racing was marked by the first success of A K Macomber whose threeyearold filly Philippa won the Prix Mondaine with Swann in the saddle saddlePhilippa Philippa by Cicero Love Blink is one of the string of horses purchased by Mr Macomber from J E Widcncr and prepared by the late H B Duryeas old trainer T Murphy at La Morlaye Her dam by Velocity Lovetie was imported into France by Mr Widener in 1915 when in foal to Cicero The foal was Philipp When Mr Widener sent his youngsters foaled in 10K to America Philippa was not regarded as quite good enough and she remained in France passing along with the batch of now twoyearolds into the ownership of Mr Macomber Philippa was slow in developing but on Mon ¬ day she beat u big band in brilliant fashion and she looks like proving a great if unexpected ac juisition to the newly formed stable
