BILLY KELLYS FIRST EASTERN SUCCESS Flash Stakes Introduced the Great Gelding to New York Public This Years Entries to Stake NEW YORK N Y July 18 The Flash Stakes of 1918 served to introduce to the eastern racing pub ¬ lic the wonderful Billy Kelly which canws from Kentucky to the Spa practically unheralded his defeat in the Spring Trial Stakes at Douglas Park somewhat detracting from his earlier good reputa ¬ tion How he soon opened the eyes of the eastern turf is well known to all Racing enthusiasts are now wondering if the west will again send another Billy Kelly to Saratoga For that reason a perusal of the entries to the Flash Stakes to be run on the opening day of the coming meeting at Americas most famous racing ground is being made by turf followers hereabouts One hundred and thirty two yearolds remain eligible to the Flash Of the western youngsters which have achieved a good reputation in Kentucky Miss Jemima and By Golly stand out over the others among the entries in the Flash while Man o War Bonnie Mary Dominique and King Thrush are the topnotchers of the eastern division Surely a field of quality if not of numerical strength seems certain tor tills years running
