RESUMES ITS OLD PLACE Lawrence Realization Again One of Richest Races of the Year, i Gross Value of 1919 Running About 5,000 Sir Barton Among Likely Starters. XEW YORK, X. Y., September 4. Time was when the Lawrence Realization Stakes was one of tlie most valuable, as well as most iiopular fixtures of the eastern turf. The race was established in 1889 by the Coney Island Jockey Club anil run over the famous Sheepshead Hay course until 1910 inclusive. In 1913 it was transferred to Belmont Park, where it now has found a permanent home. The famous -Salvator was the first winner of the Realization, -as.. it was known until 1S99, and the net value to the winner of its initial running: amounted to 31,100, the largest in the history of the nice. Up to 1910 its not value never fell below 2,000, but during the reconstruction period from 1910 to 1918 the winner of this famous race received only a modest sum. For that is what the Lawrence Realization is this year, as its gross value, including starting fee, will "be approximately 3,000, and the winners share will exceed 0,000. Tlie Lawrence Realization is a race that always appealed strongly to breeders and the conditions provide for prizes to the nominators of the first, second, and third horses, as in tlie Futurity. Under the conditions for this years- event horses were nominated as foals liefore November 15, 1916, and as yearlings by November 15, 1917, larger subscription and liability fees being demanded for those named as yearlings. Altogether, there were 201 nominations, of which sixty still remain eligible to start. SIR BARTON IN FINE CONDITION. Commander Ross great colt Sir Barton is among tlie likely starters in the race,- which will be the feature of a splendid program preparted for the coming Saturday at Belmont Park, when, if weather conditions are propitious, another crowd such as was present Labor day will severely tax -the commodious home-of the Westchester Racing Association. Sir Barton has not raced since his defeat by Purchase in the Dwyer Stakes at Aqueduct last spring, but is reported in tine condition and ready to uphold his reputation as the best three-year-old of the year. Purchase is not in tlie Lawrence .Realization, but there are such as Dunboyne, King Plaudit, Cirrus, Star Hampton, War Pennant, Vindex, Questionnaire, Sweep On, Lord Brighton and others in addition to Sir Barton to try for tlie rich prize and, even with the latter considered a sure starter, a large field seems certain.
