HUNTING, FISHING AND SPORT Game wardens in the neighborhood of Evans-ville, hid.. Monday arrested fifteen hunters for having appeared in the fields without a limiting license. All the men were fined. Despite the fact that u panther lias not. been, taken in New York State for many years there is a firm belief among many residents of the north woods, who are otherwise reliable in their observations, that panthers still exist in the Adirondack. The reports seem to be based chiefly upon tracks seen and cries heard, and it is likely that the Canada lynx is responsible for at least some ot them. According to an announcement just sent out by the United States Bureau of Biological Survey the killing of deer in southeastern Alaska is limited ti deer having horns not less than three indies long, and the number-that may be killed by any one person during the open season is throe. The killing ot female mountain sheep and female deer is prohibited. The sale of the meat of gome animals and the hiring of hunters to kill or capture game for eating purposes is also prohibited in certain localities.
