PIMLICO AUTHORITIES BACK DOWN HOAVIE Md April 13 Directors of the Mary ¬ land Jockey Club have given in to tlie authority of the Maryland Racing Commission with respect to recognition of H G Hedwell as agent for the stable of Commander J K L Ross As a result the threatened clash between the two bodies has been averted for the time being beingFollowing Following an announcement yesterday by AVilliam P Kiggs general manager and secretary of the Maryland Jockey Club that the Pimlico Association would not accept the stake entries of tlie Canadian horseman if signed by Mr Hedwell and a resultant ultimatum from the commission that virtually pre ¬ cluded the possibility of a meeting being held at Pimlieo this spring unless such entries were ac ¬ cepted the Maryland Jockey Club through Charles E McLane its president and Mr Kiggs rescinded its declaration completely and Hedwell will be respected there The stake entries of tlie Canadian turfman were accepted without reservations reservationsThis This is the first iinH rluiit controversy won by the Maryland commission in its short but checkered career and sets the organization up as an absolute ruler whose will cannot lie controverted witli im ¬ punity in Maryland The commission has made it apparent that it will take no suggestions from the associations under its control and the Hedwell inci ¬ dent seems to be a closed matter so far as this section is concerned He has been accepted as J K L Koss agent at Howie anil Havre de Grace Opposition to him at Laurel where the Maryland Jockey Clubs policies are followed will probably not appear next fall
