ORIOLE set a fast pace from the start, but had to be ridden hard at the end to maintain his advantage over SOME BABY. The latter made a threatening rush after entering the homestretch, but was tiring at the end. MESSINES ran well, but swerved to. the inside in the last sixteenth. MARBLE began somewhat slowly, but moved up rapidly. on the outside oh the baekstretcli and, taking an easy lead while rounding the far turn, was eased up at the end. JOHNNY DUNDEE, shutlled back on the first turn, ran an excellent race, but was tiring at the iiuish. WESSIE B. closed a big gap and finished wtih a rush. 1IIOTOPLAY set a fast early pace and was bumped back, then finished fast and close up. CORENZIO and FINERY showed speed, .but failed to stay. WOODBINE raced well back under slight restraint for the first mile, then moved up steadily when called on and passed A.IOM in the last quarter,- but had to be hard ridden to the end to outstay YOWELL. The latter came through fast on the inside in the stretch and was wearing he winner down at the end. AJOM ran a smashing race under his weight and set a good pace, but tired in the last eighth.
