FORTHCOMING SPANISH STAKE RACES The secretary de la Societe des Courses, San Sebastian, v Spain, announces two important stakes, cut tries for which are now open. The more valuable is the Grand Prix de S. M. Alphonse XIII., to be run at Lasarte, September 10, 1922. This race is at one and onehalf miles, for three-year-olds, :lmi of 0,000 added, together with a gold cup. Entries will close at the offices of all recognized jockey clubs December 21, 1921, The secretary of the American Jockey Club, Xew York, will receive American nominations. The other event is the Grand Prix de S. M. la Reine Victoria, to be run at Lasarte on September 17, 1922. This distance and conditions are similar to those of the Grand Prix Alphonse. The race is for horses which were not scratched in the first event, the winner of which, and the second, third and fourth horses will not be eligible for the second race. It will have a value of 0,000 added, with prizes for second, third and fourth horses. A gold cup presented by the queen will be awarded the winner.
