j 1 , i THIRTY LEADING WINNING HORSES BILLY BARTON IN FIRST PLACE WITH f!6,965 TO HIS CREDIT—EAST INDIAN AND GOURMAND FOLLOW NEXT IN ORDER Billy Barton thrives in Cuba. Last year he won the Cuban Derby and was considered a whale of a three-year-old while racing at beautiful Oriental Park. Later, when he returned to the States, he failed to uphold the reputation that had preceded him. This winter we rind him again in Cuba and once more thriving. 1nder the mystic influence of the Pearl of the Antilles, Billy Barton is the conquering hero of the race track. He has won since the first of the year the American Club. President Zayas and Grand National handicap . the latter the most valuable turf prize contested for this year to date. Altogether, he has won |M,M8 and that tidy sum places him at the top of the list of the money-winning horses of 1922 to date. East Indian, winner of the Baja California and Tijuana Business Mens handicaps at the Tijuana track, is second with M!50 to his credit. Gourmand, the sensation at the Fair Grounds, New Orleans, where he has won six races out of eleven starts and finished second or third in the other five, is third with .$." , Sit.". United Verde.
