FOREIGN SIRES REPRESENTED 4 Negofol Has Seven of Progeny Eligible for Kentucky Derby. ♦ Important lart of hnglish and French Stock Horses in Production of American Thoroughbred* Is Exemplified. LOUISVILLE, Ky.. April 4. The important part that foreign blood is playing in the production of the American thoroughbred at the present time is well exemplified by the large number of imported stallions that have representatives in the list of 164 eligibles to ih- Kentucky Derby. There are ninty-seven stallions represented in the list, and tvveiitv-si or a trifle more than a quarter of the number are stallions that were bred in Europe. One of the foreigners has the distinction of having the greatest number of his get entered in the Churchill Downs classic-, Negofol. which is standing at the Xalapa Farm of 11 F. Simms, near Iaris. Ky.. tops the list with seven eligibles to represent him. These are Memory I ane. Forever and Forever. Espino. Colorful, Celidon, Kndless and Erie, Xegofols closest rival is North Star III., j with six representatives. Those claiming North Star III. are High Star. Bubbling Over, Barcolo. Boot to Boot. Blue lencil and iorncracker. Such imported horses as Omar Khayyam, Brown Prince II. and Kon-in-Law are well represented. Omar Khayyam claims Nomad, Parco, Iraq and Royal Omar, while ; Brown Prince II. has Bumpkin. Helens Babe Punjab and Powhatan. Son-in-L.aw is represented by I.ongvvorth. American Son and Seventh Son. The ever perennial Broomstick, which supplied two Derby winners in Meridian 1911. and Itegret IMS, has five eligibles with his blood in their veins, these being Navigator, Mayne, Briarbroom, Blondin and Acrostic. George Smith I91C, Omar Khayyam 1917. and Behave Yourself 1921. are the only Derby winners with representation this year. Oeorge Smith is represented by Jim-mie Quinn ; Omar Khayyam by the four already mentioned, and Behave Yourself is represented by Bird Behave. None of the following sires of Derby winners are represented this year: Ilunnymede, sire of Morvich; Marathon, sire of Behave Yourself; Sea King, sire of Paul Jones, or ! Star Shoot, sire of Sir Barton. ■sCTO II AS TWO WIN NF. RS. McOee, which sired two Derby winners, Donerail, in 1913, and Exterminator, in 191S, : could boast of one of his get being in the list, this being Harry Wills", but that colt died a short time ago. Ilicle, sire of Old Kosebud, winner in 1914, lias only Sandy Man to uphold the reputa- tion of his line. The Finn, sire of Xev 192.°., and Flying Ebony 192" , has three of his sons in the list, these being Nurmi, Suonii and Euclid. Rl»ck Ton-y. sire ol" Black QoM 1924. is represented l y Blockhead and Black Maria.! Man o War, the boras of the century, I can claim Mars. Crusader. Dress Parade and Siren as his progeny in the list, while Fair Play, the sir- of Man o War, has representation in Chance Play, Display and Festival. Peter Pan boasts of four representatives in the Derby list, Bolton, Dedans, Macaw and Croyden. Trap Bock has Bock Star, Chocolate Soldier and Rnrkman. Golden Maxim also has three in Golden Mac, l.eo I.ampe and Golden G. Other stallions with three representatives are Euke Mel.uke. Colonel Vennie and Pennant. Those | with two are Mainteinn. Wrack.
