NELSON PRAISES CARLARISJ LEXINGTON. Ky.. April I. -In the course of a letter written on March M by Judge Francis Nelson at San Diego, Calif., and received today by Thomas P.. Cromwell, secretary of the Thoroughbred Horse Association, that distinguished racing official says: "If Carlaris is as good on Derby day." meaning Kentucky Derby day. May 15, "as he was yesterday, when he won the Coffroth Handicap, there is no use of any ether horses I know of running against him. "He can run a mile and a quarter on a fast track in two minutes and keep on and he has won as much money before the end of March as Black Gold won all season. "I hope to be at Churchill I owns on Derby day. making up for missing the race the last two years. Our Canadian racing season begins May IS, but there is much routine preparation prior to that."
