BLOCK TO WITNESS DERBY Chicagoan Will Ship Mordine to Washington Park for Home-wood Stakes, June 30. HOMEWOOD, 111., June 15 The racing colors of Benjamin Block will be seen in action at Washington Park during the running of the Homewood Stakes on June 30. Mr. Block, who is a native Chicagoan, has just returned to New York for a few days, but will be back in time to witness t.e American Derby at Washington Park on June lo. "Not only am I coming to Chicago to witness the running of the American Derby," said Mr. Block, "but I am also going to have a starter in the Homewood Stakes, which will be decided on June 30. I well recall having witnessed many of the famous Derbys of the past which were decided at Washington Park, and it would be impossible to keep me away this year." Mr. Block has been most successful on the turf this year. He has won thirteen out of the seventeen races in which he had a starter. "I have a brown colt named Mordine, sired by Morvich, winner of the Kentucky Derby, which I intend to ship to Washington Park to start in the Homewood Stakes," said Mr. Block. "Although this colt has won five races this year, he is not a world beater. He is going up against good horses in the stake race here on June 30, but he will be at the barrier at post time, ready to do his best."
