Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. SOLA MIA, away well and showing the most speed, raced into a good lead after going a half mile; bore out on the stretch turn and tired badly in the last sixteenth and barely lasted. WRACK RAY raced well up from the start, saved ground and, finishing gamely, was getting to the winner at the end. MY VALET, in closest pursuit from the start, bore out in the stretch and, finishing well, just failed to outstay WRACK RAY. MISS FURBELOW began fast and raced wide when passing MONEAGUE into the lead, then withstood repeated challenges and came away slowly through the stretch. SAUCY SUE, also away well, raced close up from the start, came fast on the stretch turn and made a game finish. GINESTRA raced well, but ran wide on the turns. GEORGE MeCRANX came from far back and finished fast. QUEEN ROYAL raced green. MONEAGUE set the early pace and quit. THE CYRENIAN began besc, but tried to bolt on the first turn and had to be eased up. PORT STAR responded gamely when ridden hard in the stretch and, slipping through between the leaders in the last eighth, headed MIRAFEL nnd NICHELSON with. a rush right at the end. NICHELSON began moving up on the outside when called on and, after heading MIRAFEL, could not withstand the winner. MIRAFEL showed the most speed and saved ground where possible, but tired in the last eighth. FLORIDA GOLD also tired badly In the last eighth. KING BASIL lacked his usual final rush. RED GRANGE was unprepared at the start and, after being rushed into second place, tired badly in the last quarter. JUDGE CAVERLY, away slowly and far back in the early racing, began moving up fast on the ont-side and, closing a big gap, came fast through the stretch and won going away. CAPTAIN APPLEJACK also raced from far back and made a fast finish. SEA LION improved his place fast after going the first quarter and finished resolutely. SUNNY HOURS saved much ground on the turns. MARGHERITA suffered from interference. AVOLFY tired badly after reaching the stretch. BON BON was done after going five-eighths. FIRE CHIEF, far back in the early running, came with a rush on the outside and was going fastest of all at the end. BLACKAMOOR finished fairly well after showing much speed from the start.
