PLUMAGE moved up resolutely after leaving the back stretch and, saving ground on the final turn, finished fast next to the rail and won under mild urging. PANCHIO was slow to get going, but made up much ground to outfinish BEST MAN in the last stride. BEST MAN set most of the pace, then tired near the end. WISE ADVOCATE bore out badly in the stretch. ALL HAIL tired in the closing eighth. TRAFFIC JUDGE and AQUAPLANE showed early speed, then tired. TOWN LIMIT did not like the going and quit in the last quarter. HERNANDO rushed into contention soon after the start, but tired in the last eighth. CHIEF DAUNT was going well at the end. STROLL ALONG tired in the stretch. MONKS DUDE was cut off on the far turn. SALISBURY, never far back, came fast and, taking command entering the stretch, went into a good lead in the stretch and easily outlasted TONY JOE. The latter gained steadily in going that he favored. LANIER was a factor from the start. FOOLHARDY was never dangerous and had no excuses. SANS COIN and WESTERN PRINCESS were used up making the pace. ESTIN showed dull form. CHECKERBERRY raced very wide in the first quarter and quit in the stretch. EVERGOLD came through on the rail when CAMP BOSS raced wide on the back stretch and, taking a good lead after going half the distance, increased it and won easily. PEGGY LEHMANN came fast in the last quarter and easily outfinished the others. WAR GLOW was taken very wide by CAMP BOSS on the back stretch and met considerable interference from the latter thereafter. CAMP BOSS, weakly handled, took command early, but was allowed to race very wide on the back stretch and continud to bear out slightly in the stretch. The others were outpaced. SUNFIRE moved up resolutely on the back stretch but, although outfinishing EL PUMA, seemed to lack his usual dash in the stretch. EL PUMA loomed up dangerously on the stretch turn, then tired. CHENE was fairly close up all the way. CULLODEN was never a factor. DODGSON quit badly.
