fairmount planning I I EIGHT RACE PROGRAM j -4 .----------- COLLINSVILLE, 111., Aug. 9. Under the direction of general manager Robert S. Eddy, Jr., who has been here for ten days preparing for the Fairmount Park Jockey Clubs thirty-one day meeting, which opens on Saturday, September 2, things are well advanced. Copy for the first book of conditions was delivered to the printer today and distribution of the books will begin about Saturday. General manager Eddy will give the longer eight-race programs a trial on opening day, Labor Day, and the second Saturday of the meeting and if the test bears satisfactory results the week-day cards beginning with the second full week of the meeting will comprise eight instead of seven races. In addition to the popular "Daily Double" on the second and third races, and the "Quinella" on the closing race daily, the management will introduce the new three-dollar combination one dollar across the board. This combination has proved popular at Hawthorne and several Canadian tracks. Stables are due to begin arriving in large numbers next week and, with attractive purse offerings to be made, the local track should draw its share of the larger western stables.
