1 GENERAL NEWS OF THE DAY t s The troubles of Wilbur Glenn Voliva, overseer of Zion City, were not ended when his party was swept out of office at Tuesdays election. He and twenty others, some of whom are Zion church officials, have been subpoenaed to appear before Federal Judge James H. Wilkerson, who will hear a plan for the reorganization of the Zion Industries and Institutions, Inc. From Ottawa, Ont., comes word that by a vote of 165 to 12 the dominion house of commons rejected an amendment to the budget offered by George Coote, United Farmer of Alberta member, to set up a system of social credit. With government supporters cheering, the budget was then carried 99 to 74. The University of Minnesota campus is becoming "nationally known as the testing place for. communism," with many of the students being used as "puppets in the hands of communist leaders," Maj. Adam E. Potts, commandant of the universtiy reserve officers training camps, charged Thursday. The Dutch premier predicts formation by the United States of "defensive sphere of economic influence" to offset Japanese expansion.
