FINAL HANDICAP WORKOUTS DETROIT, Mich., May 28 Several eligi-bles for the Colonel Alger Memorial Handicap, which features the Thursday program, had useful preparations over the sloppy track here this morning. Fred Alger, Jr.s Azucar went a handy five-eighths in 1:02. He was accompanied by Polar Flight. Precursor reeled off the same distance in 1:04, and Arson stepped a half mile in :50. Regardless was timed three-quarters in 1:17. With the exception of Bazaar and Stand Pat, which are not on the grounds, all of the eleven other eligibles are training for the mile and a sixteenth journey, which carries ,000 in added money. Stand Pat is due to arrive today from Toronto and, according to. word received here, he will fill his Thursdays engagement.
