DAYTON MEETING AT HAND Nineteen Days of Racing at Ohio Track to Begin Today Inaugu ¬ ral Purse Opening Feature DAYTON Ohio June 7 The Dayton Jockey Club opens its nineteenday summer meeting at the Fair Grounds track here Saturday with prospects for a banner turn put Rain Thursday night and Friday morn ¬ ing gave the track a thorough drenching and left little hope for a fast racing strip but the weather man was more encourag ¬ ing and promised fair overhead conditions conditionsThe The well arranged and compact little plant has been put in order all the officials are on hand and all plans for the opening have been completed completedThe The initial program which will include eight races will be headed by a condition dash at six and onehalf furlongs for three yearolds and upward This race the In ¬ augural Purse carries a 600 monetary value and drew a well balanced field of eight in ¬ cluding some of the best racers on the grounds Among the intended starters are Bea M Odd Star Anna V L and Men ¬ tality talityWith With the exception of the seventh in which only seven are entered all the races attracted full fields in spite of track con ¬ ditions which can hardly be any better than heavy for Saturdays sport sportIncidentally Incidentally the management is urging horsemen to ship no more of their racers here unless they previously make arrange ¬ ments for their stabling Accommodations here already are taxed to the fullest with more than 300 horses registered registeredWhile While plans were going forward for the opening William Dangman presiding stew ¬ ard sat with Neil Reighbourne of the Ohio State Racing Commission and passed upon the applications for licenses of horsemen and jockeys With the exception of a few who failed to identify themselves properly all were approved
