ABERCROMBIE worked his way to the leaders stoutly when approaching the home stretch, swung to the outside when straightened for the final drive, closed fast and was up in the last fifty yards. MARGIE LOU assumed command midway of the back stretch, stalled off keen contention from MISS VVORTHMORE and held on stronely under punishment. DENCLAIRE. far back for five-eighths, weaved his way into contention and closed full "of run. TREASURE SHIP came with a belated rush nearing the finish. MISS WORTHMORE tired after racing close up. WESTYS BUTLER had no mishaps. ALTSHEB was done early. UVIRA. steadied within striking distance of the early leaders, came determinedly when reaching the home Stretch, wore down TOE DANCE inside the final sixteenth and came away stoutly. TOE DANCE sprinted into a long lead, saved ground, but quit badly in the closing eighth. CANDY FEAST raced as if sore and was unable to menace the first two. DON SWEEP was taken wide the entire trip. POWDER MONKEY racing in improved fashion, was rated after gaining command at the First turn, shook off BROADCASTER and held on strongly to stall off BLUE DAMSEL The latter secured racing room on the insid- raced to the outside of the winner for the final drive and closed gamely. BRILLIANT PAL fell back slightly midway of the final turn, came again under punishment and finished willingly. DEEDIE was unable to threaten after going to a drive. UNION raced up stoutly on the outside rounding the final turn, but failed to rally after bearing out at the stretch turn. ZANGWILL was held safe. BROADCASTER quit. FEUDL LORD, in close attendance of MELOY in the early running, gained command with a rush when approaching the stretch, was shaken up mildly and drew out at will when nearing the finish. LADY MARLBORO in ttcht quarters during the first three eighths while close to the leaders, secured racing room on the inside durin- the final tost and came willingly. LUGFN LUGGAGE, eased back soon after the start, came determinedl/ in the last half mile and came between horses during the closing eighth. MELOY had good speed while setting the pace but tired under his weight. BIG ONE was badly blocked before leaving the back stretch and had to be taken up sharply. BACKGROUND was outrun. DONSTICK, eased bark off the pace and steadied along early, came resolutely when placed to a drive after reaching the stretch. LISTARO, allowed to fall out of contention when reaching the back stretch, swung to the outside for the final drive and finished with a belated rush. VINGT CINQ had good speed while setting the pace, but failed to rally when forced to a stout drive. ROSESILLA was held safe. The others were outrun. Scratched— 12167 Gay Sympathy, 118. BEECHVIEW. racing in her best form, stalled off keen contention from CANTERWOOD early, met a persistent effort from LOFTY LADY when reaching the home stretch and drew out smartly when shaken up. TROUBANOVA gained racing room on the inside after suffering much early interference and finished stoutly. LOFTY LADY, taken to the outside when moving into contention, tired badly after getting on almost even terms with the winner. DEWHURST raced prominently, but was not good enough. MRS. FOSTER could not gain in the late stages. LUGANO was bumped and knocked back at the first turn, but closed gamely after recovering. LOST SPIRIT was done after racing three-quarters. NOBLE SPIRIT, blocked and forced to take up going to the first turn, went up on the outside when midway of the back stretch, reached the front with good speed, but had to be shaken up during the final drive to stall off FUSCO. The latter worked his way up steadily to enter contention, then came with good energy in the final issue. NEWELL, timidly handled, was eased back leaving the back stretch while on the inside, swung to the outside of his field thereafter and finished strongly. THREATENING went well placed, but faltered in the final test. BILL KENNEDY was gaining slowly at the end. PROTEUS weakened badly.
