OMAHA TURF NOTES OMAHA Neb June 6 H B Wilson is no longer an apprentice the period for his fivepound allowance hav ¬ ing terminated with Wednesdays racing Wilson rode his first winner at AkSarBen Field June 4 1940 Incidentally he rode two of the first three winners on Fridays card cardRoy Roy Dillard veteran mutuel clerk passed away at St Catherines Hospital Omaha Thursday evening following a short illness Dillard was a native of Missouri and was 55 years of age Funeral services will be held in Omaha Sunday SundayMrs Mrs M G Farnsworth purchased Little Rustler and Earlyin at private sales Both horses will be run in the silks of their new owner Saturday They will be trained by G L Kepner KepnerG G B Kennedy has resigned as trainer of the horses of Vefa J Vick and soon will depart for Chicago to accept a position as trainer for a prominent stable The Vick horses Many Wars Macsun and Better Look will be trained by R Q Osborne in the future futureRobert Robert Carter a 19yearold apprentice from St Louis Mo rode the first winner of his career when he steered Droop to victory Thursday Carter is under contract to G Schultz and is the third rider to graduate at the present meeting meetingNoel Noel Chilcut who is doing the starting at AkSarBen Field will leave for Longacres at the conclusion of the meeting to accept a position judgeUncle as patrol judge Uncle Bill Cassity grandfather of jockey jockeyWillie Willie Cassity is at Omaha in the employ of Claud Hart Although 78 years old he gal ¬ lops horses occasionally He is one of the few living men who witnessed the match between Mollie McCarthy and Ten Broeck He was but a youngster when that noted pair tangled tangledJockey Jockey Lyle Whiting retained a slight lead over Eddie Franklin by riding the last win ¬ ner Thursday The score going into Fridays card stood Whiting 13 Franklin 12 12When When Busse Trumpet won recently it was the first time that the silks of Roland Nocita young Omaha turfman had ever been seen in front Nocita recently purchased three horses which are trained by W Red Foy former assistant starter
