Downs Stables Facing Serious Help Problem ProblemLOUISVILLE LOUISVILLE Ky May 3 The help problem is daily growing more acute among stables quartered at Churchill Downs and a number of larger establishments here are carry ¬ ing on with as little as 50 per cent of their normal complement The armed forces in the last year have made heavy inroads on the number onf exercise riders and stable hands available here and elsewhere and many more such men are leaving the tracks for more lucrative employ ¬ ment in industry The situation has reached a point where many train ¬ ers are grooming their own horses and some of these who are able to do so are even exercising them themThe The trainer of one of the larger stables here is cutting down the size of his thoroughbred forces to meet the employment situation and many more may be faced wtih the same necessity
