Quebecs Racing Season To Open at Mount Royal RoyalFirst First Meeting Under Auspices Of Kings Park Jockey Club ClubMONTREAL MONTREAL Que June 12 Racing in the Province of Quebec for the season of 1943 will start at the beautiful Mount Royal track on Saturday June 19 accord ¬ ing to the official announcement from the Quebec Racing Association President Tommy Gorman of the PQRA stated that the dates had finally been confirmed as follows followsKings Kings Park Jockey Club at Mount Royal Saturday June 19 to Monday July 5 5Montreal Montreal Jockey Club at Blue Bonnets July 9 to July 24 24Connaught Connaught Park at Ottawa July 31 to August 16 16Mount Mount Royal at Mount Royal August 21 to September 6 6Arrangements Arrangements were made last week with the Provincial Transit Controller whereby all weekday racing in Montreal will start at 4 oclock and finish at 7 Twilight racing is out All Saturday racing will get under way at 3 oclock In this way there will be no conflict with the peak hour street car and bus traffic to the various munition plants several of which are now located close to the Montreal tracks At Ottawa Saturday racing will be at 3 oclock and the weekday post time will be 5 oclock Officials Appointed AppointedAt At a meeting of the Province of Quebec Racing Association last week Hon Frank L Connors was appointed presiding steward His associates will be named by the various clubs Lester Doyle will again officiate as racing secretary and H T Stephens as assistant secretary secretaryBoth Both the Blue Bonnets and Mount Royal tracks have been opened and there is plenty of accommodation for the horse ¬ men who have already begun to ship In Steeplechase events will also be on the programs at Ottawa Blue Bonnets and Mount Royal and there will be as many of these as can be filled satisfactorily satisfactorilyIt It was also announced today by Presi ¬ dent Gorman that in the event of the patronage being improved over last year purses would be immediately increased Horsemen may ship to the Blue Bonnets course at any time The strip is ready and many horses have already worked out over it Several hundred horses will likely be shipped down from Toronto
