Tropical Charity Week Realizes Goodly Sum Approximately 7,531 Raised From Final Six Days of Sport CORAL GABLES, Fla., April 8.— Tropical Parks Charity Week came to a close thisi afternoon with the greatest turnout on rec-• • ord for the 50 days of 1943-44 competition at the Gables grounds. Racing for the entire six days was con-ducted under the auspices of the Tropical ■ Park Fund, Inc., and a total of approxi- j mately 6,281 was raised by the association. The Pinkerton Detective Agency contributed 50 and the American Totali- J sator Company ,000 for a grand total of 7,531. Principal beneficiaries are the Dade County War Chest, which will receive 8,- j 000. Included in this fund are the Catho- lie. Jewish and Protestant Family Welfare I agencies, as well as the National War Fund. It is well to note that the above are minimum figures. Final tally on the weeks i revenue will be made Monday and then the exact figures will be available. Only the i actual cost of the weeks sport has been ! deducted from the total revenue. Officers j and executives contributed their salaries for the six days, while neither taxes, in- j surance nor maintenance costs have been charged against the gross. Only actual payrolls, equipment, rentals, purse money, : etc.. were taken out.
