Rule Ending Wagering at Post Time Reported Satisfactory ELMONT, L. I., N. Y., June 4.— Some New York turf officials say they are pleased with the new rule that closes the mutuel machines at post time. Lou Walger, pari-mutuel manager for all New York racing, said this morning: "The new rule resulted in far less confusion at the windows. It has been easier and more pleasant for the men in my department and. I believe, for the patrons. They are making their wagers earlier and, as the horses reach the starting gate, they are back at trackside. ready to watch the running of the race. It is my impression that fewer are shut out under the new rule than was the case under the old, with its uncertain closing time".
