Navy Cross backers received .20 for . This was his second success in three chances during the local turf season. He had been beaten a nose on the post by Equi-fox j in his last previous endeavor, but found no such formidable opponent in the Woodland. Todays sport was not remarkable for r the class of the participants, but compensated with some spirited competition and several solidly backed winners. The program " was conducted in several varieties of weather ranging from sunny and cool, but 6 the track remained fast. Navy Cross left nothing to the imagination in the Woodland, zooming into a clear r lead leaving the gate and rating along sev-, eral lengths in front into the stretch. Ben 1 Gray moved forward rather menacingly for a few strides near the furlong marker, but South shook up his mount and maintained a two lengths margin at the finish. Ben 1 Gray was steadied along through the back-„ stretch while Zacapet prompted Navy Cross pace, then moved forward as the e latter retreated. However, his challenge e also fell short of the mark and he had to content himself with the place. Zacapet, " quit in no small way, permitting Sigma a Kappa to pick him up and finish third.
