Neb.. June 11.— When Ak-Sar-Ben opens its revival race meet a week from tomorrow June 19th to be exact* the goal of the committee will be not how much business will they do. but how many war bonds can they sell? ,. With that thought in mind, a special* committee of business men headed by Ed-5 ward F. Pettis, and including M. L. Chain-3 pine. James B. Moore and Robert H. Hall, has been concentrating on an intensive campaign, to begin today, purpose of w Inch is to establish a War Bond sales record for any American race track for any one day. All of this coming week, and until noon of Inaugural Day. purchasers of bonds at j the Bond Bungalow at Omahas main in- I tersection. Sixteenth and Farnam Streets, lor at any theater or retail store booth, will j receive a grandstand ticket to the opening days races free of charge. Federal and state taxes will be paid by Ak-Sar-Ben as a contribution to the Seventh War Loan campaign. In addition, a gigantic War Bond auction will be conducted at the track, with thei | highest bidder winning the right to serve as honorary steward for the day. Appointment of two more members of 1 Ak-Sar-Bens official family was an-vv I nounced today by Chairman George Bran-c j deis. A new paddock judge will make his debut here In the person of Charles Mul-i- J laney of New Orleans. Bernard F. Smith, custodian of the jockey room at Ak-S:ir-e Ben for several years, has returned to Omaha to serve in the same capacity, Smith is a former ace jockey who rode for the late C. B. Irwin. Meanwhile, the Ak-Sar-Ben racing com- s mittee announced that the improved Part cific Totalizer will be used in the pari-i- mutuel room, with Norvin E. Lutz return- e ing as mutuel manager. The Puett electric stall gate which is to be used at Ak-Sar-Ben was shipped from New Orleans last Wednesday and is ex-is pected momentarily. It will immediately be installed in the three-quarter chute where assistants to starter Noel Chilcutt will begin the schooling of two-year-olds for their debut races next week.
