Dade Park to Run 28-Day Meet Beginning August 2 Net Proceeds of First Three Days for War Relief, Charity LEXINGTON, Ky., June 14.— It was announced today by the Kentucky State Racing Commission that the application of the Dade Park Jockey Club for its annual meeting had been approved. Operators of the Western Kentucky track requested dates for a 28-day meeting, opening August 2 and closing September 3, Labor Day. Following a custom established last year, net proceeds from the first three days of the Dade Park meeting will be given to various War Relief funds and local charities. Once again the meeting will offer the usual complement of Saturday and holiday features, climaxed by the annual Governors Handicap. James C. Ellis is president and general manager of the Dade Park Jockey Club. Other officers are Robert W. Hunter, vice-president, Drury Smeathers, secretary and treasurer, and Lester E. Yeager is associate manager. Thomas C. Bradley is presiding steward in charge of racing.
