Sir Bim Forced to Sidelines; Incurs Cracked Bone in Ankle ARCADIA, Calif., June 23. — Don Ameches Sir Bim, one of the fastest three-year-olds at Santa Anita, is through racing for the rest of the year, according to his trainer Hurst Philpot. It is believed the winner of the San Felips Stakes injured his right front ankle in the running of the San Vicente Handicap. Following his disappointing effort in that race on June 9, an X-ray examination was made and it revealed that the son of Bim-elech had cracked a bone in the right front ankle. The colt will be fired and turned out on a California ranch. Sir Bim was considered a strong contender for todays Santa Anita Derby and his misfortune cost the movie star a chance to see his colors flown in this big event, as his other candidate. Son of Chance, was not i entered yesterday by Philpot.
