ROYAL CHAP, prominently placed from the start and on the outside, disposed of PATUXENT BELLE in the drive to take a short lead, then continued gamely under pressure and lead NO LEDDIE at the end. The latter drove through between horses to take command inside the sixteenth post, then weakened slightly. DISCERNING EYE was in close quarters on the turn and closed well when clear. PATUXENT BELLE raced ZO-BO into submission to take a short lead at the furlong post, then weakened. SNOW PHANTOM, away slowly, closed a good gap. GALLANT FOOT turned in an even effort. SAROS, prominent from the start, made repeated bids to reach the winner, but was not good enough. STRAY WINDS improved her position steadily and finished well. WALLOON broke forwardly, but dropped out of contention early. RUN BUD RUN, forwardly placed, was forced to race on the outside. GOLDIES SUGAR was hard urged to maintain a forward position and weakened. DISSIDENT raced evenly ENTERTAINMENT was done early. FARMERS GIRL broke in a tangle. R0LLIN0 was sent up quickly on the outside to reach contention, was placed to pressure, but was not good enough. TELLMENOW, sluggish in the early racing, closed with a rush on the outside. PASTURE M0WLEE closed some ground after being outrun early. UNCLE DOC turned in an even effort. HUG BUG had early speed while racing between horses, but weakened. HAWKW00D ARESS could not keep up. FLYING WEATHER had speed from the start, took command leaving the backstretch, witnstood a stiff challenge from THE SHAKER. The latter secured room on the inside to challenge stoutly in the stretch and hung on stubbornly. AVENUE BELL improved her position steadily, went to the outside of the leaders for the drive and closed fast. FLYING LEVEL had good early speed and gave way grudgingly BULL SESSION could never reach contention. STRIDE WELL could not keep up. HAMULL was unable to engage the leaders at any time. REZTIPS lacked early speed, but closed resolutely. LANLAST was unable to engage the leaders. BOY KNIGHT bore out badly on the turn and through the stretch. PANACEA flashed early speed but weakened. SWEEP TORCH, under restraint within reach of the leaders until reaching the final turn, went to the front with a rush on the outside and held BRIGHT REMARK safe under pressure. BRIGHT REMARK was under restraint while saving ground, responded well when called upon to challenge the winner in the stretch, but hung. WOODFORD LAD was not hurried until leaving the backstretch, went to the outside for the drive and closed gamely. JUSTA NOTE had early speed, but flattened out when put to pressure. CHICMERE trailed far back early, improved his position quickly on the turn and finished fast. WELL ALLRIGHT moved into a short lead on the backstretch, then weakened from his efforts to keep up.
