FAVORITE TRAP, slow to settle in stride, moved into closer contention gradually, went to the front between horses in the stretch and drew out to win with something in reserve. APPOINTEE lacked early speed, but closed with a rush. JOHNS BIRD had early speed, lost some ground on the turn and weakened. ACK-ACK had early speed while racing between horses, but could not keep up. SURGEON DICK, sluggish early, raced evenly when in stride. FLY WHISK dropped back quickly after flashing early speed. DONERO, prominent from the start and on the outside, wore down WISE CHILD in the drive and was drawing away under pressure. WISE CHILD opened a clear lead in the backstretch, saved ground and fought it out willingly.- CARRY MEA improved his position steadily and closed with a rush on the outside. DIER BALLA, always a forward factor, finished gamely between horses. DATSO saved ground in a forward position and showed a good effort. PLAYFUL JANE weakened after showing early speed. JOYCE W. was hustled to the front at once, was steadied along in the lead and drew out to win with something in reserve. RAY, a stout contender from the beginning, made repeated bids to reach the winner, but was not good enough. PRANCING TED moved up with a rush between horses through the stretch and closed fast. LANTERN raced evenly in a good effort. ALANAY, under restraint early, moved up threateningly through the stretch, then hung. TETRAMORE had early speed, but was used up trying to reach the leaders. PALOMA LINDA broke well, but was not dangerous thereafter. Overweight— Joyce W., 1 pound; Alanay, 2; Tetramore, 1; Our Style, 1; Sunawana, 2. Joyce W. claimed by A. Wellman. ELCAN, under stout restraint for a half mile, improved her position steadily thereafter, responded well when called upon in the drive and gradually wore down OLIVIA L. The latter, rated close to the early leaders, moved to the front on the turn, drew out and fought it out willingly. SEAPAR, sluggish early, moved into closer contention quickly on the outside in the backstretch and closed well. LOSTAHAT made a stout bid to get to the front on the outside on the final turn, then flattened out MIGHT STEP could not erigage the leaders. ESCOLAR made a feeble bid on the turn and weakened. PADUCAH, under restraint close to the early pace, moved up on the outside through the stretch, bore over on VALDINA FIND bothering the latter through the final sixteenth and was up in the final few strides. VALDINA FIND improved his position steadily, saved ground, took command on the inside through the stretch and was bothered by the winner, but for which he might have won. VALDINA SENTRY was in close quarters in the backstretch, was taken to the outside for the drive and closed stoutly. BIT GAY opened a clear lead early, but weakened when challenged. IRON WORKS closed some ground from a slow beginning. HUNTSMAN was unable to engage the leaders. GREAT WALL was outrun in a dull effort. Overweight— Iron Works, 1 pound. Attendance, 12,901; Total Mutuel Pool, 34,002. Returned to Public, 90,602, Less Breakage.
