UMPYDAN, away fastest, was sent into a clear lead, was placed under restraint and held SON FOREVER safe under mild urging. SON FOREVER, forwardly placed from the beginning, was sent to the outside for the drive and closed well, but was not good enough. HUGHIE L. lacked early speed, but finished stoutly. GALAPROX trailed the field until entering the stretch, then closed fast between horses. TULACHMORE was used up racing closest to the winner and weakened. BAUM BACH was never prominent. FAY FOO could not keep up. GYPSTER showed nothing in a dull effort. DIAMOND DICK was shut off while racing prominently in the backstretch and did not recover. LOSTAHAT moved into closer contention after a half mile, wore down ESCOLAR in the stretch to take command inside the furlong pole and just failed to last. ESCOLAR was sent into a long lead at once and saved ground, but weakened. ALUM0NT, under restraint early, was in close quarters on the turn and ffnished well.
