Gray Warrior Wins Moorestown Purse In ThreeWay Garden State Park Photo Qualifies for Valley Forge By Outgaming End of Strife And Rinaldo in Mile Event EventGARDEN GARDEN STATE PARK Camden N J May 4 In a rather roughly contested race Fertile Acres Farms Gray Warrior a can ¬ didate for Saturdays one mile Valley Forge Handicap emerged victorious from the eight furlongs Moorestown Purse fifth and featured attraction on the sport program at Garden State Park today The son of Hal ¬ cyon and War Party just did make it though in a spectacular blanket finish ahead in front of Bobanet Stables End of Strife who in turn was a nose before Mrs George Shifters Rinaldo The winner re ¬ turned a 6 to 1 payoff and negotiated the distance in 139 over a racing surface classified as good Fourth position went to Anecdgte and Sole Parate and Chicle Clown completed the field in the named order orderA A gathering of 12500 was on hand The start was affected in front of the grand ¬ stand with the competing group away in perfect alignment H M Espighs Sole Par ate managed to get to the front by a nar ¬ row margin over Rinaldo who as the band went into the first turn was between the leader and End of Strife The trio bunched up curving into the seven furlongs pole with the result that End of Strife was in rather close quarters He managed to escape being eased Sole Parate held to his lead under the continued pressure on the part of Rinaldo and End of Strife As the three approached the five furlongs marker the latter moved over on Rinaldo and forced that one to be eased up Then after entering the stretch Gray Warrior began his move from outside He gradually lowered the distance between himself and the leaders Inside the final furlong End of Strife overhauled Sole Par ate and after wresting command the former cut over in front This eliminated Sole Par ate End of Strife then shook free of Rin ¬ aldo but was unable to putfinisTi the hard charging Gray Warrior WarriorWilliam William G Helis New Jerseybred two yearold Floria proveo best of loT loTother other youngsters in the four and onehalf fur ¬ longs second event somewhat of a second ¬ ary attraction since it matched numerous juveniles who are eligible t6 such local di ¬ visional fixtures as the William Penn Gar ¬ den State NewSJersey Stallion and Ran cocas Stakes StakesFloria Floria an eligible for the Rancocas weaved her way through the field to nip the strapping big colt Eatontown in the last stages and grab a three parts 6f a length triumph A winning ticket was worth 820 and time foi the spin was 54 Third position went to Percivale The latter might have been much closerif not the winner but for ducking and swerv ¬ ing badly in the stretch
