BILC G. worked way forward steadily, assumed command when settled in the stretch and held the advantage while under brisk handling. HELENCHEN went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, but was unable to hold the winner. RICHWOOD BOY raced evenly to the stretch, but could not better his position when set down in the drive. MISS OGIFTIE lacked early speed, but finished fast. COLONEL READ never was a serious threat and pulled up sore. MARBACKA began sluggishly and raced wide. LADY ALLEN gave way after racing prominently to the stretch. SUFFICE had brief speed. KINDLY MISS steadily improved her position to take command midway of the drive and, after taking command, drew clear under punishment. SLY TIGRESS was sent into closer contention entering the stretch while on the outside and closed willingly in a sharp effort. WESTERN FRONT moved up with a rush to dispose of DID PLAY on the near turn, but faltered when called upon for his best effort. HAPPY PAT was shuffled back on the turn, then continued on determinedly when clear. SIDNEY SUE lacked speed. DID PLAY quit. POLITICS was forced to take up sharply soon after the break. DELFEB had no mishap. AUNT BEEBA could not keep up. LOOKOUT BLOND showed brief speed. JEAN FOX quit badly. ARROW QUILL gave a listless performance. DOUBLE FEATURE, forwardly placed from the beginning, came to the middle of the track for the stretch run and steadily drew away from his field when ridden out. HIGH EGO went to the front immediately after the start, made the pace to the stretch under steady rating, but could not withstand the winner when hard ridden through the stretch. BLANK DISMAY, outrun early, finished well, but could not seriously menace the top ones. TOLECA made a good bid nearing the furlong marker, then flattened out under punishment. OURBERRA lacked a finishing rally. LADY LASSATOR was done early. DIAVOLAW was never formidable. QUEEN FLASH failed to stay after showing brief speed. SPRING FIESTA was never dangerous. OIL CAPITOL outsprinted his field from the beginning, held a clear lead when settled for the stretch run and, under urging, maintained his advantage to the finish. CURTICE, never far back, could not reach the winner when roused for the final test, but was easily best of the others. SPURCHASE slipped through next to the inside rail on the near turn, but lacked a menacing closing rally. KALIMERA failed to improve her position when hard ridden through the late stages. KINGSWAY caught tiring horses. SQUINT failed to respond when asked for his best effort. LOU SALLY raced wide on the final turn, losing all chance. DANSEUSE was always outrun. JADEITE fell back quickly from a fast beginning. POLAR BEAR showed good early speed, then quit IMAN AMQUIN and PRISSY PAIR never entered serious contenton. BEWITCH, away alertly and never far back, was sent to the outside of SOUTHERN PRIDE in the stretch and, after taking command, won with speed in reserve. ENFORCER, forwardly placed from the beginning, drifted out on the stretch turn, then closed strongly when straightened for the drive. SOUTHERN PRIDE went to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, then weakened during the final furlong. FREE AMERICA pulled himself up after the break, was outrun badly to the stretch, then closed with a rush and worked out to the mile in 1:40!4. SYNDICATE began fast, but could not keep up. PHAR MON was outrun. MISS NEAL appeared sore during the post parade and failed to stay after displaying brief speed. Scratched— 72745 Bullish, 113. Overweight — Syndicate, 4 pounds; Phar Mon, 3.
