Burch Halts Derby Duties To Check Brookmeade Foals LEXINGTON, Ky., May 5.— Taking time out from his duties as trainer of Brookmeade Stables Kentucky Derby candidates to inspect the establishments foals is Preston Burch. The Brookmeade foals are divided between Cy Whites Elsmeade Farm and Harrie B. Scotts Shandon Farm. There are four colts and six fillies. The former are by Grand Admiral, Hierocles, Bimelech and Goya IT. The misses are by Grand* Admiral, War Admiral, Unbreakable, Reaping Reward, Sun Again and Teddys Comet. At Brookmeade Farm at Upperville, Va., Burch reported seven colts and six filly foals. These colts are by Bull Lea, Piping Rock, Cosmic Bomb, Flushing H„ Shut Out and two by By Jimminy. The fillies are by Cosmic Bomb, Whirlaway, Flushing H., Adaris, and there are also two fillies by By Jimminy. Burch stated that By Jimminy, who was rated with the top three-year-olds of his year, would be sent to Kentucky to stand at Shandon Farm in 1951. The trainer is also enthusiastic for the future of Grand Admiral. This young stallion raced only as a two-year-old in 1946, and accounted for the East View Stakes and the Saratoga Special. i g t r -t IUI
