DEBDEB raced on the inside and was close up from the outset, finished gamely and caught WINDFLOWER in the last sixteenth to win under mild urging. WINDFLOWER displayed good early foot, but faltered near the finish. LOMBARDY closed ground in a good effort. SAIL CLOTH raced evenly. HYPERPLAY bore out nearing the finish. MOMBASA raced within striking distance of the leaders for six furlongs, then began to move up steadily well out from the rail, wore down DEMON and caught him near the end to win drawing away. DEMON began slowly, but raced stoutly to find and opening next to the rail, look command after going a quarter and opened up on his opponents, then tired from his early effort. TUMBLER was on the inside most of the way, but had enough left to outlast GRACE OMALLEY. The latter was" prominent to the stretch, then showed signs of weakening. The others failed to threaten. SUNGARI took a short lead in the early stages, was challenged repeatedly by RUDDY, but held the latter safe to then end and won under hard urging. RUDDY was in slightly tight quarters-on the outside of the winner entering the last eighth, but went well to the end. ESCONDIDA finished fast on the inside and was gaining. MISCHIANZA failed to threaten although showing a steady effort. LIVELETLIVE was unable to keep up and was never dangerous. The others were outpaced. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE. Won driving; second and third the .same.* NOVICE improved her position on the outside after leaving the backstretch, challenged determinedly when straightened out for the final drive, headed RADIANT and held her safe to the finish. The latter sprinted to the front early, displayed tenacity when headed and went strongly to the end. NAVY BEAN raced forwardly early and, although weakening near the end, had tittle trouble holding third position. ABBIE CO was in rather tight quarters-on the inside early and showed a good effort when clear. COUNTESS MOLLY failed to threaten. THREE AND TWO made up much ground in the final quarter. . GUILLOTINE weakened badly in the last sixteenth. MY REQUEST was bothered leaving the gate and was never a serious contender. BETTER SELF was badly outrun in a weak effort. SHOES was rated for half the distance, then moved up steadily and retained his position to the end. SHADOW SHOT also responded fairly well when called upon, but never seriously threatened to take command. BRAVE REWARD had no excuse and was not good enough.
