NEWTOWN steadily wore down the leaders from the outside, wrested command quickly on the final turn and was ridden out to the finish. BOLD DAN easily maintained the lead, set an even pace, but was not good enough when challenged by the winner. DELOVE raced in closest attendance to the pace and weakened only slightly. SNAKE RIVER was a forward factor, but weakened. SURE COUNT saved ground to make up distance late. HIGH PEAK performed evenly. BEACH BOY was never a serious factor. JACOPOINT was outrun. CHIPS DOWN was always a distant trailer. Scratched-00603 Cambett, 113; 00661 Brazil, 111; 00739 Pam Light, 112; 011894 Big T. 0., 111. Overweight— Sure Count 2 pounds; Goldton, 2.
