• r j - r Two Invaders Work Well For 0,000 New Castle Renew. Nothirdchance Go Mile in 1 :38% and 1 :38%, respectively DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 27. — King Ranchs Renew and Isidore Bie-bers Nothirdchance, recent arrivals from Belmont Park, this morning turned in excellent one-mile trials in preparation for Saturdays mile and a quarter renewal of the 0,000 added New Castle Handicap, one of the nations outstanding events for fillies and mares. Renew, a four-year-old daughter of Blue Larkspur — Be Like Mom, was the more im-s pressive, completing the final quarter mile in :24% to round out the eight-furlong move in 1:38% handily. Nothirdchance, a three-year-old Blue Swords filly, negotiated the same distance in 1:38%, the final ■ quarter of which was a full second slower than that of Renew. Each has won a stake this season, Renew accounting for the Firenze Handicap over top members of her sex, and Nothirdchance taking a division of the Acorn. While these two lassies were training impressively for the New Castle, several other members of the sex appeared on the scene to further augment the probable starting line-up. They were Ogden Phipps Busanda, who will operate under top-weight of 126 pounds, William Zieglers Jr.s, Leading Home, and C. V. Whitneys Jazz Baby. Expected to arrive later this afternoon is Joe W. Browns Thelma Berger. Herman B. Edelmans How and Walter M. Jeffords Kiss Me Kate, outstanding sophomore lassies, have been on the grounds and are now considered definite starters, the former having been assigned 115 pounds and Kiss Me Kate 113 pounds How boasts victories in the Kentucky and Coaching Club American Oaks, while Kiss Me Kate won a division of the Acorn and Delaware Oaks. How beat the Jeffords* filly in the CCAO and a rematch of the two has been eagerly anticipated. Another possibility for the New Castle is_ Mrs. Jeffords Adile, who won last years renewal for her lone success of the season. She has been a bit slow coming to hand but recently was worked a mile and a quarter with the race in view. Should she compete, Adile would race coupled with Kiss Me Kate. The only other certain starter at this time is Hal Price Headleya Aegina. The New Castle has always been run over the mile and a sixteenth distance, but this year was stretched out to 10 furlongs and that, plus the purse increase to 0,000, enables the race to attain classic standards. Should 10 fillies and mares parade post-ward on Saturday, the New Castle will gross 6,000, with the winning owner to receive 7,900 The Thursday program at this point contains seven claiming events and a steeplechase, with the best race being named the Governor Elbert N. Carvel. The Governor will be on hand to witness the card, along with Lt. Gov. Alexis I. duPont Bayard, Secretary of State Harris B. McDowell, and Col. George I. Sylvester, Executive Assistant to the Governor.
