Weather and Inaugural Switch Cut Aqueduct Crowds, Handle AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 29.— Attendance and mutuels figures for the first six days of the Aqueduct meeting shows decreases in both departments, due mainly to a switch in opening days and inclement weather. Total attendance was 112 914 as against 122,324 for last summer, with mutuel play reaching ,181,711 in comparison with ,464,422 in 1950. This seasons opening was on Friday, the weakest day in racing, and on Saturday the near cloudburst cut sharply into the attendance figures. Another contributing factor to the decline is the later dates this season. Last summer Aqueduct opened on June 12 and had no opposition in the Metropolitan area.
