Cannon Arrives at Centennial With Mrs Marchbanks Unit UnitLITTLETON LITTLETON Colo May 9 Trainer Darrell Cannon arrived with four horses the property of Mrs J W Marchbanks of Walnut Creek California to campaign here Prior to the Golden Gate meeting Cannon raced this string at Hollywood Park Del Mar and Santa Anita Those in the unit are Pauls Pride Mr Wisdom Be Gallant Be Courteous and Mr Bam BamCannon Cannon has a very interesting and color ¬ ful background both on the turf and off In 1921 he was acclaimed Worlds Champion All Around Cowboy and received the Rich ¬ ard K Fox championship belt in recogni ¬ tion of that honor honorHe He began training thoroughbreds the next year for George Drumheller In the years that followed Cannon handled many leading establishments such as Hamilton H Cottons La Brea Stable and the tremen ¬ dous organization owned by Maj Austin C Taylor of Canada CanadaWhen When World War II came the latter dis ¬ banded his stable and Cannon went to work for the late J W Marchbanks owner of Tanforan race track and Heather Farm Following the death of Marchbanks Can ¬ non stayed on to direct the stable for Marchbanks widow widowCannon Cannon will also train a sevenhorseunit for former Colorado Racing Commissioner J H Thatcher of Pueblo and two other horses for Pinky Grimes
