Thorncliffe Park at Toronto Believed Sold for /000 000 TORONTO, Ont„ May 20.— Unconfirmed reports state that Thorncliffe Park, mile track situated on the outskirts of Toronto, has been sold to interests headed by E. Jules Mendelsohn for a. reported price of ,000,000. Mendelsohn is, a. horse Owner and head man of Thorncliffe Raceways, who sponsor standardbred racing at the Leaside plant. It is believed that the majority of stockholders in Baltimore who own stock in Thorncliffe: have signed an agreement, to sell, the course and property, the deal to be consummated before July 30. William Moore of Pickering is the. only Canadian shareholder. He: owns. 200/ shares and; was one of the founders of the track, who, along with Gad Bryan and James OHara, of Baltimore, opened the course in 1917. Regardless, of the time the sale: is: completed, the 14-day session scheduled for June 7 through June 23 will be operated by its present owners. The course and surrounding property was purchased from the Robert Davies Estate. The track was first opened in 1917, but racing was immediately suspended after one meeting for the duration of World War I.
