ANNIES CHOICE sprinted into a commanding lead soon after the start, swerved sharply to the outside nearing the furlong pole and was under strong pressure to outfinish OUR BULLY. The latter outbroke the rider, worked his way up on the outside, was taken up when near the leader and was sent to the inside and just missed. GEE WHIZ, in close quarters most of the trip, rallied near the end. CUSTODY lacked a closing rally. STROLL improved position steadily. LADY CARRIE weakened after a half mile and went wide near the end. WORLD EMPRESS weakened. RABS SON drove up along the inside, was unable to get through and went evenly thereafter BRAVE IRISH was taken up sharply as the field bunched on the far turn. BILL ROSS improved position gradually, but was no match for the winner. LUSMORES, slow to settle into best stride, closed with a belated rush. SILVER SKIPPER, sluggish in the early stages, caught tired horses in the stretch. CHANCELING had no mishap. The others were never prominent. FOURTH JACK drove up along the inside to engage the leaders, but was not good enough. QUILLET established the pace under steadying restraint, flattening out when, put to pressure. TONY JAY was under stout restraint to take off the pace, remained in hand until the furlong pole and was caught in a jam through weak handling. POISON ARROW trailed throughout. The latter, steadied off the oace until straightened for the drive, slipped between horses to gain the lead; but was not good enough. BUSY SIGNAL, off the opposition turning into the stretch, opened a clear lead and faltered. DEVILS CHANT closed well along the inside. TRIPLE TIME showed speed for a half mile and weakened. PINOCCHIO broke sluggishly, moved into contention before a half mile, then failed to rally. GOYONDER caught tiring horses. ROYAL MARVEL, in hand while, working his way up between horses, responded gamely under a drive, but was unable to menace the winner. DESIRABLE moved up on the outside to draw in closest, attendance of the leader at the furlong poie, but, failed to make up ground under stout urging. NOLA HASH, in hand and saving ground along the inside, failed to threaten. ACADEMY AWARD had no mishap.
