SPICY DAME was rated with a fair degree of confidence and, coming to the inside for the stretch run, found an opening nearing the last sixteenth to get to the front, but was doing her best to hold MORE CHEERS. The latter was badly outrun to the last quarter, then improved her position between horses and was gaining rapidly at the end. RAPID MAIL moved up on the outside of BRASSFIELD to take a short lead an eighth out, but was unable to retain his advantage although holding on fairly well. GRAND JUROR failed to respond to urging as well as expected. BRASSFIELD tired in the stretch after having had a good lead in the early running. Scratched— 59558 Ala-Flash, 114. JUST EIGHT caught FASHIONED v/eakening around the stretch turn, and took command to open up on the field after heading for home, but was unable to hold the winner. HAPPY WEST made up ground on the outside in the stretch. FASHIONED had the most early speed, but tired. BELCON and BROWN SMOKE were unable to keep up. ALDENSON came strongly around the outside on the stretch turn and, although racing wide, caught FAST BUCK after entering the final furlong to win going away under mild pressure. FAST BUCK raced close to the pace and took a short lead an eighth out, but was not good enough. COACHIE went to the front at once and set the pace to the stretch while saving ground, then resisted fairly well. CREME-DE-COCOA weakened in the stretch. NEW STREAM also tired in the last eighth. PRY PAT lacked much early speed while racing under slight restraint, but came steadily through the stretch to best the others. MARIE EILEEN displayed more courage than usual in the final drive. PENSIVE LADY dropped back after breaking well, then came strongly through the stretch to be up in time to defeat SAILS in a drive. SAILS improved his position gradually and went strongly to the end. JAMAL moved up to head the field nearing the last eighth and went fairly well thereafter. HOLLY SWEET was in rather close quarters in the stretch, but went gamely to the end. CAJAC had good early speed and raced in resolute fashion after being headed. STUBUR was in close quarters while making a run in the stretch. EL PACHO had early speed. FEUDIN FIGHTIN tired badly. SIR MANGO had good speed speed from the start and, although going out a trifle on the stretch turn, took command entering the final furlong and drew away under pressure near the end. SATTERLEY soon headed-BABYS DELIGHT, but was unable to draw clear and readily succumbed to SIR MANGO, although having enough left to hold EROWN ARIEL The latter was outrun early, but came fast in the last eighth. THAXTER was unable to keep up but was going well at the end. HAPPY CARRIER, forced to race wide early, moved up on the outside nearing the stretch turn and, although going to the middle of the track on the turn, loomed as the likely winner only to weaken badly in the final sixteenth. PRINCESS ANN displayed her usual fine turn of early speed and held on with fair courage in the final drive. ELJAY raced wide in the stretch to loom up, but was unable to make a real threat for the leadership. RED CHARGER was never prominent in one of his weakest efforts.
